   Best Digital Crown puzzle. Ours. You turn the Digital Crown like a combination dial and the haptics grow stronger near each pin, so you crack the safe by feel with the screen barely mattering. Behind the dial sits a 10-area campaign with 10 villains, 8 live trap types and 168 loot items to steal. Pocket Bandit, further down, started this idea in 2016; Crown Heist builds a whole campaign on it.

   The catch: it launched in July 2026 with no ratings yet, and the full 10-area campaign is behind the Royal Pass.

   Best sliding-block puzzle. Slide the cars until yours can leave. Over 1,000 handcrafted levels, each with one solution, on iPhone and Apple Watch. Leaving out mini-game collections, it is the most-rated puzzle game with real wrist play that is still being updated: 4.5 stars from 2,372 ratings, with an update in August 2026.

   The catch: every one of the 1,000 levels is the same idea, so it is a long game rather than a varied one.

   Best number puzzle. Sudoku in three sizes: 6x6, classic 9x9 and jigsaw, plus a daily challenge and thousands of levels. 4.7 stars from 685 ratings and updated this month. If you want one puzzle that never runs out, this is it.

   The catch: a 9x9 grid is a lot of cells for a watch screen, which is why the smaller 6x6 boards exist.

   Best block puzzle. Six block puzzle games in one app with over 1,000 levels from easy to hard. The newest of the three Diem Le picks and the most actively updated, with 4.6 stars from 743 ratings.

   The catch: some of the games and all the themes are unlocks rather than included from the start.

   Strategy puzzle by Brothers Flint

   Best strategy puzzle. Swipe your units across lakes, mountains and forests to take the enemy's ground. Handcrafted levels, endless random maps and face-to-face local multiplayer, all in 11 MB. It came out in 2016, was updated in July 2026, and still answers whether thinking games work on a watch.

   The catch: its 4.3-star average is below most of this list, and the handcrafted levels run out long before the random maps do.

   Logic puzzle by Infinity Games

   Infinity Loop: Relaxing Puzzle

   

   Most relaxing. Rotate pieces until every line joins into closed loops. No timer, no fail state, no score to chase. 4.2 stars from 657 ratings. It is the puzzle to play when you want to switch off, not to be tested.

   The catch: the last update was October 2024, and the listing gives the watch version a single line, so the phone is clearly its main home.

   Number puzzle by 志荣 杨

   2048+#

   

   Best 2048. 2048 with boards from 4x4 up to 12x12 and more than one new tile per move if you want it harder. 4.7 stars from 2,619 ratings, iCloud sync, and only 11 MB. The best-rated game on this list.

   The catch: it was last updated in January 2022, and a 12x12 board is not a wrist-sized idea; stay on 4x4 on the watch.

   Safecracking by Seele Games

   Pocket Bandit

   

   Best classic. The game that proved the wrist could be a lock. Rotate the Crown, feel for the vibration, beat the timer, collect the loot. Eurogamer called it a hidden gem and Macworld and Tom's Guide put it on their Apple Watch lists, and at $0.99 it is still the cheapest way to feel why Crown and haptics work together.

   The catch: it was last updated in October 2020, and one mechanic for the whole game is why it sits at 3.6 stars.
