What makes Crown Games different
Made for the watch, not shrunk from the iPhone
Apple Watch has at least 4,599 games, and 82% of them were last updated before 2024. Crown games start on the watch: the Digital Crown is the main control, haptics carry what the small screen cannot (Crown Heist's safes are cracked by feel), and a round is short: one Crown Heist safe takes 14 to 30 seconds. The iPhone version comes second, and it is the full game, not a settings screen.
One pass for every game
Arcadia and Arcadia Sports cost $1.99 each up front, and each new game is another purchase. Every Crown game is free to download and play, and one Royal Pass ($1.99 a week or $24.99 a year in the US) unlocks the full version of all of them, including games released after you subscribe.
Kept up to date
Pocket Bandit was last updated in October 2020, Lifeline in June 2022 and Dare the Monkey in July 2022. Every released Crown game has had an update since August 2026, and each one targets watchOS 10 or 11, so it runs on current watches without workarounds.
Full games, not a bundle of minigames
WristJoy fits 60 small games into one app. A Crown game is one game with depth: Crown Heist has 168 loot items across 10 areas, Soar has 17 biomes and a 17-track original soundtrack, and Crown Climb has ten worlds to climb through.
Offline, with no account
No Crown game asks you to sign up or sign in. They run on the watch without a connection; only leaderboards need one to post a score. No real money is played in any game, including the card, dice and roulette ones.

The team behind Crown Games
Rob Veen, founder
Rob spent years looking for fun games on his Apple Watch. So did his friends, and so did his classmates. He upgraded his watch several times, and the games never changed. The watch has a sharp screen and runs games at 60 frames per second, yet the one standout was Arcadia: a collection of small games with crisp 8-bit graphics and tight gameplay, and still a favourite of ours. The apps that came after it copied the format, simple games bundled together, without Arcadia's polish. Nobody was building one big game for the watch.
"Everyone was yearning to use their expensive device. Aside from workouts, it was just a watch that you charge every day. I want to turn the Apple Watch into a unique gaming console that thrives on deep progression in all sorts of games, from arcade to puzzle to RPGs, and many, many more."
So in 2026, in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands, he started Crown Games: full games with hours of play, built for the watch instead of squeezed onto it. The small screen and the few controls (the Digital Crown, a tap, a shake) suit old, proven game types like safecracking, dice, cards and climbing, played in the minute or three you have free during the day. Nobody was taking that seriously. He shipped Crown Heist on July 24, 2026 and 4 more games in the two months after.
That is also why the base games are free. You can have fun with your watch all day without paying; the Royal Pass is there for players who want the full version.

- Getting a game
- Every game is on the App Store, free. You install it on your iPhone and it lands on the paired watch. Crown Heist and Shut The Box need watchOS 10; every other Crown game needs watchOS 11.
- Free and full versions
- Each game is playable free. The Royal Pass unlocks the full version: every level, mode and cosmetic, in every Crown game.
- Paying
- The Royal Pass is an Apple subscription, weekly or yearly, billed to your Apple Account. New and lapsed subscribers get the first week for $1.00 with offer code CROWNPASS. Cancel in Settings at least 24 hours before renewal.
- New games
- New games join the pass the day they launch. You do not buy anything again.
- Support
