Welcome to Crown Games
What we're building and why
By Crown Games
Crown Games exists because of a simple observation: the Apple Watch is a genuinely capable game device, and almost nobody treats it like one. It has a bright screen, a precise rotating input in the Digital Crown, and a Taptic Engine that can whisper information into your wrist. What it mostly gets is thin ports and abandoned experiments from 2016.
We build the other kind. Native watchOS games with actual content: campaigns you finish over weeks, original soundtracks, controls that only make sense on a watch. Our first release, Crown Heist, turns the Digital Crown into a safe dial and stacks a 10-area heist campaign on top, with 168 loot items and haptics precise enough to play in a silent meeting. It is free on the App Store now.
Behind it: Soar, a momentum flying game across 17 biomes; BlackJack+, a full blackjack hand in seconds with no gambling; and Draw Five, heads-up five-card draw. One Royal Pass subscription unlocks all of them, including everything we ship after.
What this blog is for
Three kinds of posts. Dev logs on how we build for a 45mm screen: haptic design, Crown mechanics, the tricks that make a full game fit on a wrist. Analysis of the watch gaming market, with numbers where we have them. And guides for our games, like the Crown Heist trap guide, verified against the actual game code.
If you own an Apple Watch and suspect it could be more fun than it is, that’s who we write for. Start with the games, or see where they land among the best Apple Watch games.
Frequently asked
Are these games iPhone-first or Apple Watch-first?
- Apple Watch first, every time. The games run natively on the watch; iPhone companion apps add stats, soundtracks, and in Soar's case the full game on a second screen.
What has Crown Games released so far?
- Crown Heist: Safe Cracker launched in July 2026, free on the App Store. Soar, BlackJack+, and Draw Five are in the pipeline behind it.
How does pricing work?
- Games are free to download and play. One Royal Pass subscription, weekly or yearly, unlocks the full version of every Crown Games title, including future releases, and supports Family Sharing with up to six family members.
